Project Brief:
This project focused on the renovation of the Cotton On store at DFO Uni Hill, Melbourne. The brief required a full process of design development following extensive research using a narrative board as a fundamental tool.
Cotton On is one of Australia's largest global retailers. It offers affordable, authentic, and trendy products, ranging from stationery to fashionable clothing for men, women, teenagers, and children. Their target demographic is those who want high fashion at affordable prices.
The store has an area of 846 square metres and has been opened since 2014. The branch sells Cotton On, Cotton On Body, Typo and Rubi products.
This project included four brands (owned by the Cotton On company) within the store. Inspired by Joos Fitting Room, Hangzhou and Disney World, the design outcome was to create different themes for each zone, to make the user feel excited and enjoy every zone with a new experience. The Cotton On Foundation is a big part of the brand. However, most customers still neglect the foundation mission and purpose. The design solution was to include projection rooms and Virtual Reality goggles located within the retail space to allow customers to go through and understand the foundation’s mission.
