Project Brief:

Le Velo is a two-storey cafe located below the Bellagio apartment in Wentworth Point. It offers a beautiful, relaxing environment and views of the Parramatta River. Client’s Sue and Andy Baker wanted the design to take inspiration from Industrial cafe design, street art and bicycle-friendly cafes, which they both share a keen interest in.

The design outcome provided access to natural light and waterfront views used sustainable materials and incorporated bold colours which were applied to selected feature within the design of the space. Street art was painted on features walls in the interior spaces. A void connects the café’s two floors to achieve spaciousness. The ground floor ceiling is painted with a bright watercolour look, creating an inviting and relaxing atmosphere. A bicycle repair shop was located on the ground floor to accommodate the demand for cyclists.
