Project Brief:

Three Blue Ducks the 8th Venue is located in Sorrento, Victoria, Australia and is the first Bunch and Dinner Venture. Succeeding the protagonist, which is “Four Elements of Nature: Air, Earth, Fire & Water,” speak for the feeling of connection with nature or closer to the earth when user walking barefoot on the sand, watching the beautiful ocean view, along with the refreshing wind touching the skin and the smell of BBQ seafood freshly cooked, listening to the relaxing sound of the wave with soft background music. Customers can surf with friends or watch surfers surf by the warm campfire on the shore and enjoy the time spent with friends. All materials used in the venue are environmentally friendly, reusable, recycled and locally sourced to achieve the best outcomes of the brand vision and environment.

The space has a takeaway kiosk connected to the parking lot in response to COVID-19. Beside the Kiosk is an Outdoor seating area that used Air Element as the concept, taking advantage of ocean wind by displayed a hanging ceiling fabric, which infers as a natural cooler during summer, bringing a sense of relaxation and peacefulness to the space. This ceiling fabric is suspended from a tensile member that spans the outer frame, swaying freely in the breeze, helping direct sunlight to the dining space below, allowing only fleeting light to flash onto the floor underneath. The indoor seating area is a contrast from outside by bringing a warm and welcome atmosphere, which could be operated as outdoor seating and bringing more air circulation within the space by opening up the large windows, speak for the concept of Earth Element. The bright red open kitchen connected to the bar appears as a fire element, providing well-thought-out spatial arrangements such as a cold storage room, storage rooms, temporary storage rooms and loading docks. The restroom area adopts the concept of the water element, which feature water reflection flickering in the space provided by the Silver Glass mosaic tile and the relaxing beach background sound.
